New York Responds: The First Six Months

BronxArtHouse(BXAH) is back again with a new review but this time of a virtual exhibit written from the warmth of our own homes.🥶
One of the central things that our team appreciated about this exhibition given the current level of national division and polarization was that it was crowd-sourced, thereby democratizing its curatorial voice to extend beyond the museum itself towards the wide range of lived New Yorker pandemic experiences. The project made visible the rapid-response collecting work of cultural institutions to materially capture this transformative, difficult period. The 19 current themes powerfully explore different themes through object and personal narrative. The virtual format allowed for breaks and for return. We concluded that remembering could be painful but that reflecting was also meaningful.
"New York Responds: The First Six Months" is currently on display at the Museum of the City of New York until April 11, 2021. It can be viewed both in-person and virtually. https://www.mcny.org/nyresponds/images
